Latino Issues Convention and Expo,

The Latino Issues Convention and Exposition. will start with an expo-consumer show and convocation on Friday morning with conference workshop sessions on various issues, from education to health, housing, and economic development and workforce issues. A Luncheon for 1,000 delegates will be held from 12:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The luncheon is being planned with the support and active participation of the Latino Caucus of the New Jersey Legislature, chaired by Assemblyman Wilfredo Caraballo. Speaker Albio Sires is the Co-Chair of the Luncheon. As they will be convening prior to the June 7th primaries, the major gubernatorial candidates from both major parties, are expected to be in attendance.
The Saturday event will feature exhibition booths, a consumer show, health clinics, major entertainment, cultural events and food. At 9:00 a.m., a contest with the participation of the best Latino folkloric and cultural groups in the tri-state area. will be held. A Salsa dance contest will follow at 10:30 a.m.
A free concert by world renowned salsero Frankie Negrón will be the headline that day. The concert will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the general public.
This event is sponsored by The Latino Institute, Inc., a private, non-profit, charitable organization. The institute’s mission is to serve as a bridge between the Latino community, and the educational, governmental, social and economic institutions of society by providing accurate, factual, and timely information on the barriers and challenges affecting the education, growth, development and well-being of that community and by developing, recommending, and advocating solutions and actions which may serve as a catalyst for change.
