"I came out. Now what?"

Sunday, February 27, 2005
Identity House and the GLBT Unit of the JBFCS present:
HOOKING UP FOR REAL, a workshop for gay men 18-30
Why can't I deal with other gay men without being high?
How can I tell if we're boyfriends or just hanging out and having sex?
Open relationships sound cool, but do they work?
Why do I have sex with all my friends and feel friendless?

With all the gay characters on television, straight people co-opting "gay style" and kids coming out in their teens, you'd think this was a great time to be gay. So why isn't your gay life as good as it can be? Why is it so difficult to meet and feel connected to other gay men?

My family says it's okay that I'm gay, but they sure don't act like it
Chelsea, clones, twinks, bears...where do I sit in the gay lunchroom?
If being gay is good, why do I feel so bad?

This interactive workshop will offer you tools to deal with all the drama of being young, gay and living in New York. In three dynamic one-hour sessions (with social breaks) we will explore the challenges everyone faces in forming positive relationships with the self, family, friends, co-workers and boyfriends. All sessions are facilitated by a licensed therapist and peer counselors. You can speak about your own experiences or just listen.
