Puerto Rican Heritage Month November 2004
In honor of Puerto Rican Heritage Month, Latino Gay Men of New York's November 2004 First Friday Forum (FFF) presented "BORICUAS EN NUEVA YORK" The Puerto Rican LGBT Experience in New York at the LGBT Community Center located at 208 W. 13th Street in Manhattan.
Our invited guests for the evening were Marysol Asencio, Dr. PH, Associate Director of the Puerto Rican & Latino Studies Institute at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Asencio shared her findings and anecdotes concerning the Puerto Rican LGBT experience in NY based on her latest research.
Dr. Asencio was joined by Elliot Torres, a Gay Puerto Rican writer, who delighted those in attendance with selected readings from his latest book of poetry, "Undaunted".
